About Pre-Owned Mazda Vehicles

Mazda first began as a cork manufacturer named Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd in Hiroshima, Japan on January 30th, 1920. In 1931, the name “Mazda” was introduced to the public and they started to produce vehicles. The first model released was the “Mazda-go,” a tricycle truck. The name of this model was chosen by Jujiro Matsuda, who was the second president and a substantial founder of Toyo Kogyo, and other members. Mazda comes from Ahura Mazda, the god of harmony, intelligence and wisdom from early civilization of West Asia.

The members considered Mazda to be a symbol of the beginning of West and East Asia and a symbol of automotive civilization and culture. Toyo Kogyo then renamed themselves as Mazda Motor Corporation to stand out in the automotive industry. Mazda also pays respect to the family name Matsuda, as the pronunciation is very similar. The current Mazda symbol was adopted in June of 1997 to represent Mazda’s growth, creativity, and reliance. The symbol was renewed in 2015, representing the evolution of the brand.
